"This Subtle Chaos"
Cuban/American artist Carlos Antonio Rancaño
November 3, 2017

Carlos Antonio Rancaño was born in Miami, FL. from Cuban/Panamanian parents. After graduating Cum Laude from MIU with a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, he started his career in Advertising. Even though he was always keen to drawing, it was the strict rules of design that gave way to his paintings. The free spirit that lives in his work is a direct response to the more simplistic approach of Graphic Design. His work is saturated with bright, warm colors and sharp, rigid brush strokes serving as a pedestal to the subjects in his work. Spreading from an array of themes, like bold portraits of women to African child soldiers, his work is never well-worn. Carlos Antonio has participated in various exhibitions across South Florida, as he continuous to establish himself as a premier artist.

Gallery 2014 is proud to present Keron Psillas photographer, documentarian, and storyteller.

Loss and Beauty: creating solace in a land of infinite sorrow.

Last summer, while teaching at the Pacific Northwest Art School, I was asked a great question. After giving a presentation about the work and my path to bringing it to where it is now, I was asked, “what was the most difficult thing you had to overcome during this six year journey?” I quieted myself for a moment and then let loose the word that floated up - fear. In 2010 I made my first trip to Germany and the Czech Republic. At that time there was not a plan to tour World War II sites.....it just unfolded that way. Even in the towns with no distinguishable WWII historic interest, there were small but poignant indicators of a tragedy that defies description.

My work reflects my study and observation of the hidden codes of personality and sensuality among women, those which channel both social and psychologicial realities into the masks which women wear.  My images depict the emotional power of both dreams and nightmares as well as the cries of joy and the tears of sorrow that are a part of every woman’s life; all becoming an essential part of her visage.  I use an elaborate style to raise the viewer’s senses to a more sublime level, even using the ultimate elixir of sublimation – red wine – as a medium in my works on paper.

GALLERY 2014 is pleased to announce a new exhibition of 17 Cuban artists running from Thursday, October 8, 2015 through Saturday, November 5, 2015. Gallery 2014 is located in the heart of downtown Hollywood, Florida, at 2014-2016 Harrison Street. The gallery is open Tuesday through Thursday from 2 pm to 7 pm, and on Friday and Saturday from 2 pm to 9 pm.
After 54 years of frozen relations between the governments of the U.S. and Cuba, embassies have been reopened in both countries, and there are optimistic signs of increased freedom of travel and interchange for the peoples of both nations. While governments have feuded, the people of Cuba and Florida have been inextricably tied by the threads of language, history, music, culture and art. We wanted to celebrate this hopeful new opening for the citizens of both countries with a special exhibition of some of the many Cuban-born artists that we have been privileged to represent or exhibit over the past 3 years.
Included in the exhibition of paintings, drawings and photography will be works by Aguedo Alonso, Misael, Fernando Chacon, Reynier LLanes, Mercedes Bravo, Francisco Nuñez, Cecilio Acosta and Cristobal Herrera.
The exhibition will open to the public on Thursday, October 8, 2015 with a gala reception at Gallery 2014 from 6 pm to 9 pm. Many of the artists will be present to discuss their work. Consistent with our non-profit mission, we will donate 10% of the proceeds from all sales on opening night.

*** For more information on these artists and prices please call us 954-505-3291.
