Mostly self-taught, I learn by observing and taking chances, sometimes painting on wood, other times on canvas. Painting with oil and using a palette knife allows me the freedom to blend colors directly on the canvas. This blending process also creates the layering effect that achieves the rich backgrounds I look to create in my paintings; this process reflects the various layers of our humanity which blend together to create our unique experience in life, and ultimately it is my curiosity in exploring this experience that inspires and guides each of my works.
